If
you are feeling so out of whack, that you don't feel your normal
self and are hating, ignoring or it takes a huge amount of effort
to do the things you know you love to do and have been this way
for a while now, then go talk to your doctor. Don't ignore this
feeling, don't think you'll be able to talk yourself out of it,
that this too will pass, because you actually have have symptoms
of depression.
The longer you wait for this feeling to "pass" and buying those
new shoes, taking that trip, the new hair cut, car or whatever you
are doing to help this feel "pass" isn't working. You're doing more
damage than good to yourself and your pocket book!
Haul
your butt into the hospital and get yourself diagnosed by a health
care professional who will actually sit and listen to your conerns
and get the answers you need with respect to the best course of
treatment to help you snap out of it.
There
is nothing to be ashamed of going to see help, in fact, you gain
more in the long run for actually admitting that there is something
wrong and you need help. Gone are the days when you were "crazy"
if you talked to someone about what you were feeling inside and
how mentally and emotionally drained you were.
There
are several forms of depression, all can be treated effectively
with the proper help:
Manic
or Bipolar depression - extreme changes in mood where minute you
feel fantastic and life is good and the next time you have crashed,
burned and life sucks royally.
Postpartum
depression - feelings of sadness and by a new mother overwhelmed
with the now responsibility and care she needs to provide as a new
mom.
Seasonal
Affective Disorder - falling into a rut only during specific times
of year, normally seasons
Mood
swings - wherein a person's mood may shift from happy to sad to
angry in just a short time.
It
might seem scary at first in thinking that you need help with your
depression, but, as a society we have come a long way and with all
we have thrown at us in a given day, week, etc ... it's no wonder
that depression affects a great many of us. Don't wait to snap out
of it on your own, get the proper help you need. It isn't a situation
that with one pill or a two week subscription it will be gone. It
does take a little more than that and of course you need to be an
active participant. We all want to feel better and get rid of our
times of feeling so totally out of it that it is a chore to do the
things we at one time love to do. Take the first step and get the
help!
