Postpartum Depression Sign Of

 


We have come a long way in determining baby blues from postpartum depression signs.

Being pregnant can bring a lot of emotions and feelings of uncertainty. It is certainly a time of excitment at bringing a new life into the world and that in itself is a huge responsibility. On top of the excitment also comes the side affects that mom goes through both on the emotional, mental, and of course the more evident - physical. A mom's body will have to make some pretty big adjustments and it certainly is a time when the hormones goes a little crazy, but once the little one arrives all that we have gone through makes it all seem worthwhile and it most certainly is!

Postpartum depression isn't something that is unique, is quite common and effects a great many women. Those who have been effected by postpartum depression have sought treatment and have successfully coped with its effects.

The signs of postpartum depression are actually similar to those symptoms of depression, however, what makes it unique it that is effects new moms only. There is one other "bout" that new mom's experience and we refer to those as baby blues. Baby blues to mimic postpartum depression signs, but baby blues have no lasting effect, they typical dissapaite after two weeks at the most. If you noticed these postartum depression signs and they have a been experienced longer than two weeks, then it could very well be postartum depression and the mom needs to seek the help of her family doctor. Postpartum depression signs are:

  • anxious feelings (anxiety), guilt, sadness, worthlessness, restlessness or irritability
  • hard time sleeping
  • little or no interest in social activities or things you at one time had fun doing
  • feelings of resentment, no feelings at all, anger or fear about motherhood, your partner or your child
  • problems focusing or concentrating
  • your eating habits change where you either eat more or less than usual
  • can cry at a drop of a dime or unexplained weeping
  • headaches or chest pains etc for no reason

There is nothing to be ashamed if you are afflicted by postpartum depression. It is quite common for mom's to go through this. The main thing to remember is that it can be treated with much success, but it must be caught early. If you are experiencing the partpartum depression signs mentioned above then the next step is to make your way to your family doctor and get the help you need!
