Exercise -
Are You Active?

Regular exercise has it's part to play when it comes to staying healthy. I know what you're thinking ... oh no, not exercise ... YES exercise!! It is amazes that what 15 minutes or a half hour out of your day can do for you. A little exercise can go a long way and it:

  • helps relieve stress -there is nothing better than a good brisk walk, run or other form of exercise to get the stress out of your body.

  • increases your energy for sure and even helps with your concentration levels

  • improves your digestive health

If you're like me and don't like the idea of going to the gym or joining a fitness club, not a challenge, BUT ... there are many other ways that are fun and will certainly go the extra mile to get you into a "groove," here are a few ideas that can help you out:

  • take a walk - walk for about 30 minutes a day or even every other day. Get off the bus a few stops earlier than yours and walk the rest of the way

  • get involved in some form of sports; I took up golf for example. It combines a few different forms of exercise, I go with a group of friends on a regular basis, so I am actually am able to socialize at the same time as getting exercise and it doesn't even feel like work!!

If none of the above ideas do it for you, there is evidence that suggests that even low-intensity exercise goes a long way to keeping you healthy, these include:

  • gardening or yard work
  • bowling, golf, tennis
  • housework
  • dancing
  • or even walking up stairs

A regular regime of exercise, even if it is just low impact exercises for even 30 minutes a day will go a long way in feeling healthy.

There is nothing better than when you feel like you're at your wits end and the stress is climbing by the second, just get out for a good brisk walk at lunch, your mind will certainly feel better and the rest of your body is benefiting too!
